Fact check · Passing score
What is the CySA+ passing score?
You pass CySA+ CS0-004 with a scaled score of 750 or higher on a scale of 100 to 900. Because the score is scaled, it does not convert into a percentage or a fixed number of correct answers.
- Checked October 9, 2026
CompTIA sets the CS0-004 pass mark at 750 on a scale of 100–900. CS0-003 uses the same mark.

Where 750 sits on the scale
Why 750 is not a percentage
A scaled score reports your result on a fixed range, here 100 to 900, instead of as a count of right answers. CompTIA publishes the range and the 750 mark; it does not publish the conversion from answers to score, or what each item is worth. Two practical consequences follow:
- Dividing 750 by 900 tells you nothing about how many answers you need. Any “percent to pass” figure you meet is someone's guess.
- Items are not promised to be equal. The exam mixes multiple-choice items with performance-based questions (PBQs), and CompTIA does not say how either kind is weighted.
So the useful target in preparation is a margin across every domain, with the heavy ones solid: Security Operations is 34% of CS0-004 and Vulnerability Management 26% (CS0-004 objectives, checked October 2026). The exam allows a maximum of 85 items in 165 minutes; the CySA+ question count and pacing page covers the clock.

Score folklore is not dataTrap
Forum threads trade “cut score” stories and percentages. CompTIA publishes the 750 mark and the 100–900 range and nothing finer, so any other figure has no CompTIA source behind it.
Edge cases around 750
Is the passing score the same if I sit CS0-003?
Yes. CompTIA's V3 page gives 750 on 100–900 for CS0-003 too (checked October 2026). English CS0-003 retires on December 22, 2026; CS0-004 vs CS0-003 compares the two.
What happens if I score under 750?
You can book a second attempt right away; a third needs a 14-day wait, and every attempt is paid in full (CompTIA retake policy, checked October 2026). The CySA+ retake page walks through it.
Can I retake a passed exam to raise my score?
No. Under CompTIA's retake policy you cannot take the same exam code again after passing without CompTIA's prior consent (checked October 2026).
